Ivory
Privacy Policy
Last updated August 2026
This policy explains how Ivory handles personal information for qualified researchers and institutions using ivoryscience.com.
1. Who this applies to
This Privacy Policy explains how Ivory collects, uses, and protects personal information when qualified researchers and institutions access ivoryscience.com, create an account, or place an order. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we collect
Account information you provide: name, work email, institution or affiliation, and a password. Order information: shipping name, address, phone number, and the compounds and quantities you request. Technical information collected automatically: IP address, browser and device data, and session identifiers needed to keep you signed in. We do not collect payment-card details on this site — invoices are issued and settled separately.
3. How we use your information
To verify researcher eligibility, create and secure your account, process and fulfil order requests, issue invoices, send transactional and operational messages, respond to enquiries, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with applicable law. Where you are signed in, we may also use your activity inside the gated catalogue — such as the compounds you view, add to a bag, or order — to make the operational and promotional messages you receive more relevant, and to remind you about an order you began but did not complete. This activity is recorded both by our own servers and, within the members area, by our analytics and marketing provider (Klaviyo), as described in the Cookies section below. You can unsubscribe from promotional messages at any time without affecting transactional ones. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal basis and eligibility
We process your information to perform our agreement with you (account and orders), for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and to meet legal obligations relating to research-use-only compounds. Accounts are limited to qualified researchers and institutional professionals.
5. Sharing with service providers
We share information only as needed with vetted providers who act on our behalf — for example hosting and database services, email delivery and marketing messaging platforms, payment processors, and logistics or fulfilment partners — and with authorities where required by law or to protect our rights. These providers are bound to use the information only to provide their service to us.
6. Data retention
We retain account and order records for as long as your account is active and thereafter only as long as needed for legitimate business, compliance, tax, and recordkeeping purposes, after which the data is deleted or anonymised.
7. Security
Access to the catalogue, pricing, and certificates is gated behind authenticated accounts. Sessions are protected with signed, expiring tokens and transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we apply administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the data we hold.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, and unsubscribe from marketing at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below; we may need to verify your identity before acting.
9. Cookies, tracking and analytics
We use strictly necessary first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the storefront; disabling these will prevent the gated areas of the site from working. Inside the signed-in catalogue we also use third-party analytics and marketing technology — currently Klaviyo — which sets its own cookies and identifiers to recognise you across visits and to measure how our emails and pages perform. This is enabled only after you accept our terms at sign-in, applies only within the members area, and is not used for third-party advertising networks or to build profiles for sale. You can opt out at any time by contacting us at the address below, by unsubscribing from marketing email, or by blocking these cookies in your browser — the storefront will continue to work. Our public pages carry no third-party tracking.
10. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own by us or our service providers. Where it is transferred, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy and applicable law.
11. Eligibility and age
The site and its products are intended only for qualified researchers and institutional professionals and are not directed to anyone who does not meet our eligibility criteria. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals who are not eligible to hold an account.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted to this page, and the “last updated” date will be revised accordingly. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
